In this post, she breaks down the 6-steps she took to take her journey into opening a Botox business so that you can get started on launching your injectables business like a pro!

“Attending the APP Injectables EDU Summit was truly inspiring in more ways than I can possibly put into words. Learning, networking, and gaining valuable insight from individuals that have an established practice or are just starting out, like myself, was priceless. At the end of the Summit, attendees were asked to provide tips/tricks for others interested in launching an injectables business.

Launching a spa business is like embarking on the adventure of a lifetime filled with endless possibilities. But let’s be real; it’s not always a walk in the park.

In this article, I want to share some friendly advice, practical strategies, and lessons I’ve learned. Let’s Dive in!

Your Injectables Business Launch Timeline

Step 1: Start now. Don’t wait another minute!

The best tip is that if starting your practice is something you want to do, don’t wait! The sooner you begin your business the better. It can be so tempting to try to research every little detail, but do your best to avoid that trap. Procrastination often takes the form of “research,” and it can hinder your success.

Remind yourself that time passes quickly, and if you start your business now, where will you be in three months? Four months? Time passes regardless, so it is best to make the most out of it by launching as soon as possible.

Step 2: Learn about injectables from someone in the business!

If you’re considering an injectables business, it is important that you educate yourself on the proper protocols and methods for injections. You’ll also need to make sure that you have the qualifications you need to become a provider

While you can make a list of questions you have and do the research yourself, it is often much quicker and easier to opt for paid training sessions from reputable providers, like Injectables EDU. As an example, our trainings are provided by experienced practitioners and are designed to empower you and set you up for injectables business success.

Step 3: Take the business side seriously.

My next top recommendation would be to take a business course with an injector, like the Botox Business Basics course. I found taking a business course to be crucial as it really provided me with a lot of information that I wouldn’t have even thought about after taking my injector course.

During this step, you should also consider the start-up costs for your injectables business and determine how you will finance those expenses.

Step 4: Set up your business.

After doing this, my next tip is to sit down and start writing out names of your business. Spend a lot of time on this as your business name is critical. Come up your top 3 names and then see if they are available for domain purchase. Remember not to fall in love with a name until you are sure that you can “claim” it. This was one of the hardest things for me personally.

Once you have a name, it is time to officially set up your business.

  1. Choose your business structure.
  2. Register your business.
  3. Get your federal and state tax IDs.
  4. Apply for any licenses or permits you may need.
  5. Open a business bank account.

Step 5: Select your services.

Once you finally have your business established, I recommend starting with a very small services menu. Don’t overwhelm your clients or yourself for that matter. Make a connection with your clients and they will start telling you what else they are looking for or what they love, and then you can consider bringing on more options.

Also, in the beginning you will be very excited to start booking clients but try not opening your books too spread apart. You don’t want to have to throw away neurotoxin when you are starting off because it went bad because you had too much time in between clients.

Step 6: Launch!

After you’ve completed the first four steps, you are ready to launch! It’s a good idea to have a grand opening to create some buzz about your new business. You can advertise it on social media, in any local news outlets or publications, and through word-of-mouth. You may also consider partnering with other local businesses to help spread the word.

BONUS: Items that I love in my practice.

Let’s start with skin care. Skinbetter skin care line hands down is phenomenal! Bringing a skin care line into your practice that you love is crucial. There are several out there and they all vary in prices, so test some out to find one you love in the beginning. I promise your clients will ask you, and it makes such a difference when you stand behind products that you sell because you use and love them too.

Another thing I love is my chair. My biggest tip is don’t go for a cheap chair. You want your clients to sit in the chair and really be able to relax, so spend the money on the chair. It makes a huge difference, I promise.

This is the chair I use:

The Venus Electric Medical Spa Treatment Chair is fantastic! It has a really sleek design and comes with both a hand remote control and backrest controls.

These chairs are also excellent options and loved by Injectables EDU co-founder, Cassie Lane:

  • The Spa Numa Swivel is a compact and beautiful chair. It has all the functionality you will need with a weight capacity of 385 lbs.
  • The Spa Numa Medici Heavy Duty has a bit bigger footprint. It’s still beautiful and very functional and has a weight capacity of 450 lbs, making it a sturdier option.*

As you begin your injectables journey, remember that comparison syndrome can be very toxic, especially in this industry. It’s hard not to compare yourself to others and think “Am I doing this right? Am I seeing enough clients?” Starting your own business and comparing yourself to others is totally normal, but it can also become discouraging if you aren’t careful. But guess what? Your clients are going to love you for you!”
