Supplies for Dermal Filler Injections

You need to have the right supplies for dermal filler injections. Before that, you need to know how! If you haven’t seen the Botox & Filler Course Comparison Chart, check it out and find a class to get trained. I’ll also take the opportunity to note, that it is highly unlikely you will be ready to independently practice after one of these courses. But we all have to start with that first course! If you are local in the Virginia area you can even get trained on tox with me! See my services for a description of consulting and training opportunities. Really any state that requires a Medical Director will highly benefit from my Start-Up Consulting Package. Once you get the proper training, a mentor, and referral resources these are the supplies needed for filler injections.

What’s in my Filler Bag?

I’ll share what I personally use and where you can get it. For certain products, you will need to open medical supply accounts, but many items can be found more cost-effective on amazon. Here’s my bag that I use when I need to transfer products to the office. It also doubles as a great bag to use to bring skincare products with me to a botox party. You can buy the exact one here. It can hold some supplies for dermal filler injections.

What do I keep in my office to perform dermal filler injections? Supplies for dermal filler injections.

Cetaphil Wipes*- These are great for make-up removal after a day of work, working out, etc. In addition, I use this as a general cleanser before using alcohol to clean my injection areas.

Puracyn cleanser*- This is a medical-grade, incredibly gentle, but effective cleanser. I use a Cetaphil wipe (if the client is wearing make-up), then I clean with Puracyn cleanser, then I alcohol swab each site before I inject. Remember this is a sterile implant. You can not have the skin too clean!

Lorenol Labs Post Treatment Balm– I love the Lorenol line of products. I use their Post Treatment balm directly over my injection sites for immediate aftercare. This product is wonderful as it is naturally anti-microbial and has Vitamin K to help with bruising. I then put a layer of the Silver Cream on top of this.

Silver Cream*- You will want a high PPM silver concentration in your gel. I use this Resta Silver Gel as my final layer after filler treatments. It is naturally anti-microbial and will be gentle and protective to the skin.

Dental bibs*- I set up a new one of these with every client and set up my supplies on top. They provide a nice clean surface with a bit of water-repelling properties. It’s great to place on top of a table or surface as needed for in-home tox sessions as well.

Gauze*- I prefer the non-woven 2 in X 2 in types.

Alcohol Swabs*- You’ll want to find the larger size alcohol swabs if you can. The Medline alcohol prep pads are good as well.

Headbands*- These are great to be able to keep the hair out of the face. You do not want these headbands to be too tight. If they are, it will create a lifting effect on the face. That can distort your anatomy and affect treatment.

Numbing Cream- Having your client comfortable makes everyone’s experience more enjoyable. I use 23% Lidocaine, 7% Tetracaine ointment. I get this from Sincerus Pharmacy in Florida.

Insulin syringes*- My preferred syringes are are the Easy Touch brand. I use both 0.5 ml* and 0.3 ml* sizes.

White eyeliner pencil*– This is a great tool for marking the face. Do not use a dark color pen, etc. that will not be easily wiped away. You’ll need a sharpener as well. Remember you don’t inject through these marks as to not drag it under the skin. I wipe my mark off with an alcohol swab before I inject in an area.

hot pack
Listerine and hot pack

Listerine*- I have the client use Listerine mouthwash before doing lip injections. You can even make a case for having any client swish before getting in their face for any procedure. But, again, you can not be too careful when it comes to taking every precaution to prevent infection with filler injections.

Mini cups*- These go with the Listerine.

Hot Pack*- This is part of my vascular occlusion kit. More to come on the details of my vascular occlusion kit in a future article. For great resources concerning vascular occlusion protocols, there is some great info from Jubilant Julie and Dr. Tim Pearce available.

Gloves*– SensiCare Nitrile gloves are good. You can get these off Medline. Most importantly, You are changing gloves frequently and washing or hand sanitizing so you want to get a type you can fairly easily get on and off.

filler needles
needles and other supplies

Needles*- You will need lots of extra needles. You can find these through McKesson or Medline. I use 27 g 1/2 in.

Cotton-tip applicators*- These little guys come in handy for marking the face and pointing to areas on the face and not having to use your finger.

Squeezie ball *and beauty bar*- I give my clients a choice of which they want to use or both! These little vibrating bars can be placed on the patient’s clavicle as a great distraction. Gate-theory of pain anyone?!

Mirror*– You’ll want one that fits in your toolbox. However, not a bad idea to keep an extra in case one gets dropped. I give the mirror to my clients when we are talking about the treatment plan.

What is in my aftercare kit post-filler treatment?

I make my own aftercare kits for my lip filler clients in particular. But, these kits come in handy for anyone who you are worried about bruising.

Tagamet* and Zyrtec*- I include 2 tablets each. These are H1 and H2 Blockers to decrease histamine release to decrease swelling. I tell clients to take the Zyrtec at night as it makes you drowsy and to skip the Zyrtec if they take similar daily allergy medication.

Tylenol*- I include this to treat any soreness. I don’t want people taking Ibuprofen which may increase bruising if they can help it.

Ice-packs*- I include these in my post-filler kits for people to use to ice with at home. They are great because it’s a clean ice pack, not been used in the kids’ lunches the day before!

Arnica gel*- I anecdotally do find that arnica helps. Studies really show one way or another conclusively on this. You can also have your client take arnica pills for a few days leading up to their injections.

Lorenol Labs Post Treatment Balm– I love the Lorenol line of products. I use their Post Treatment balm directly over my injection sites for immediate aftercare. This product is wonderful as it is naturally anti-microbial and has Vitamin K to help with bruising. I’m slowly phasing out the Arnica and switching over to this balm in my kits!

Aquaphor packs*- The last thing I want people to do after lip injections is put on their chapstick that has been rumbling around in their purse for about a year! I want to keep the lips as clean as possible until everything is healed up. So I ask my clients to use little Aquaphor packs instead of their usual lipstick, etc.

The Spa Numa Swivel compact and so pretty. It has all the functionality with a weight capacity of 385 lbs. *

The Spa Numa Medici Heavy Duty has a bit bigger footprint. It’s still beautiful and very functional and has a weight capacity of 450 lbs. This is a sturdier option. *
