Scaling My Business: How the Injectables EDU Summit and Mentorship Program Helped Kasandra Wheeler Grow from Startup to Med Spa Success

Turning Skills into Strategy: Kasandra’s Journey with Injectables EDU Summit and Mentorship

When Kasandra Wheeler, owner of Liv Med Spa, first stepped into the world of aesthetics, she was focused on building her skills one injection at a time. But the real turning point came when she asked, “How do I start scaling my business?”

The solution? The Injectables EDU Summit and Mentorship Program, which gave her more than technical know-how—it provided the clarity, business strategies, mentorship, and peer support she needed to confidently grow from renting a small room part-time to running her own thriving clinic.

Insights and Takeaways from Kasandra Wheeler, Owner of Liv Med Spa: How Summit Helped Me With Scaling My Business

Injectables EDU: Sometimes it feels like we think we know what we should be focusing on, but Summit can shine a light on blind spots. Was there a moment like that for you, where you realized, “Oh, this is what I need to be working on”?

Kasandra: Summit provided a road map for my career that would have never existed if I didn’t invest in the opportunity. I went to the first Summit to learn hands-on skills of injecting, and by the third Summit, I was able to learn about scaling my business and map out what the end-goal of my business would be. The concept of selling my business one-day had never occurred to me, because I was just at the beginning. What Suzanne and Cassie taught me is to have the end-goal in mind which will help direct every decision you make. Having that clarity from the beginning has been more valuable than I can even begin to explain.

You’ve had some exciting growth since Summit—including the move into your new facility. How did what you learned at Summit help prepare you for that transition?

I began my injectables career in a one-room Sola Salon subrental two days a week just 2.5 years ago. Fast-forward to now, I quit my full time job, I’ve hired my first nurse, and I’m in the process of building my own clinic. I give all the credit to Injectables Edu. During Summit, I was able to connect with other peers who have been through the building process and that gave me the motivation I needed to actually move forward with it. I also learned about how to be financially smart with every decision I’m making. I’m focused on growing the services and bringing on team members that will generate revenue to sustain and grow my practice. I was also in the mentorship program which just further guided my decision making and particularly the financial metrics I needed to be following. The Summit gave me motivation, financial guidance, and practical business advice that I continue to follow every single day. I still keep in touch with the friends I met and can bounce questions off of them which is also very helpful.

You were one of the participants in the Live Website Review session—what specifically clicked for you during that session, and how did you start applying it right away?

Meghan Reed “shredded” my website, but so did the audience. I’m laughing as I say this because somebody did find a typo I didn’t know about. The whole purpose of that exercise is to be open to criticism and understand what the experience of the user is on your website. Something I learned from Meghan was how valuable it is to be connected to other organizations, for example your local Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau, etc. If those organizations are linked or “talking” to your website, it will help your SEO. I immediately joined my Chamber of Commerce, and by doing that, I have been exposed to a significant amount of free advertising that I never would have known about. I also hired Meghan to take over my website and it now looks and functions fabulously (without typos!).

Looking back, are there any other changes you implemented directly from Summit that you feel had the biggest impact on your business growth?

Gosh, that is a very hard question to answer because so many things changed after I went. The biggest changes I made after going was joining my local Chamber of Commerce which opened the door to advertising opportunities I didn’t have access to before, I became a member of Lengea Law which tightened my compliance and also guided decision making for my GLP-1 program, my number one revenue generating service, I added Undereye PRF to my services which has been a great addition to my service list, I hired Meghan Reed to redesign my website with SEO at the forefront, and I made the decision to quit my full time job to scale my business. Finally, shortly after I went to Summit, I quit my full time job which allowed me to focus on my business 100% of the time. My monthly revenue has doubled since I took that leap of faith and now I’m going to be building my own clinic with more space to grow into!

That’s amazing! Since we caught up in-person at Summit, we’d love to hear—what’s one takeaway that has continued to shape how you run your practice today?

I learned how to be a strategic decision maker. Aesthetics is filled with trends, new products, new ideas, and sifting through all of that information can be confusing. Since going to the Summit, I’m able to make really sound decisions that will grow my business while minimizing the risks as much as possible.

There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t ask myself, “What would Suzanne say?” Or “How would Cassie approach this?”. Their answers would be different, but it actually helps me think through hard business decisions. The number one thing that changed for me is having a plan with the end in mind.

For someone on the fence about attending Summit, what would you tell them based on your own experience and the growth you’ve seen?

The Summit is a place to learn, grow, and be exposed to ideas you probably have never had. Come as a novice, actively participate in the sessions, and take as many notes as possible. Even if something doesn’t resonate or relate in that moment, I promise one day you’ll have an ah-ha moment where it clicks. I consider Suzanne and Cassie experts in their field, but you’ll never feel out of place no matter where you are at in your journey. I continue to go to the Summit because of how down-to-earth the instructors are and their willingness to share everything they know.
