Is an Aesthetic Mentorship Program Right for You? A Real-World Case Study
Many injectors reach a point where their skills are strong, clients are loyal, and momentum is building, but the next step feels unclear. The question isn’t can you grow, but how to grow sustainably, profitably, and with confidence.
In this case study, we highlight the mentorship journey of Claire Deegan, owner of Ella Rose Aesthetics, and how the Injectables EDU Mentorship Program helped her move from steady growth to strategic, intentional expansion. Through structured guidance, accountability, and expert support, Claire gained clarity around efficiency, finances, marketing, and decision-making—creating a stronger foundation for long-term success.
Her story offers a real-world look at what’s possible when you stop navigating business growth alone and start building with full support.
Before Mentorship: Strong Skills, Unclear Strategy
To start, can you tell us a little about where you were in your career before joining the Injectables EDU Mentorship Program? What were you feeling confident about? Where did you feel stuck or unsure?
Before joining Injectables EDU, I was gaining a lot of traction with Ella Rose Aesthetics—I had built a loyal client base and was seeing steady growth. I felt really confident in my skills as an injector and clinician, especially with my wellness programs, and I loved connecting deeply with my clients. But I felt stuck when it came to taking the business to the next level. I lacked a clear strategy for sustainable growth, and I wasn’t sure how to scale without burning out or making costly mistakes.
Identifying Blind Spots That Hold Growth Back
Sometimes we think we know what we should be focusing on—but mentorship can reveal blind spots. Was there a moment where something clicked for you and changed how you approached your business?
Yes, one of my biggest blind spots was efficiency—making the most of my time and money. As nurses, we often want to give everything to every client and bend over backwards to provide the best service at the best price. But mentorship helped me realize that setting boundaries and prioritizing efficiency is what truly drives growth, preserves your sanity, and leads to the strongest financial outcomes. That shift changed how I viewed “great service”—it’s not about overgiving, but about building a sustainable business that allows me to serve clients even better long-term.
What “Full Support” Really Means Inside Mentorship
What did “full support” look like for you inside the Mentorship Program? How did having access to experienced mentors change your decision-making? What did accountability add to your growth?
Full support meant monthly check-in calls with Suzanne, plus real accountability within my small group cohort. Each month, we openly shared where we were at, what we were struggling with, and our goals—it felt vulnerable and sometimes uncomfortable, but that’s exactly what drove my growth. Having access to experienced mentors like Suzanne helped me avoid common pitfalls; their guidance on wiser choices (and even sharing the mistakes they’d made) made me a much better decision-maker. The accountability was crucial—it forced me to break out of my comfort zone, put in the work, and actually implement the changes I’d been intending to make but kept putting off.
Rethinking Growth: Foundation First
How did mentorship help you think differently about growing your business? This could be revenue, team building, services, systems, long-term goals, etc.
Mentorship made me take a hard look at the reality of my business. I learned you can dream of a thriving machine, but without a solid foundation and a strong client base to support it, it won’t happen. It taught me to build layer by layer—focusing on the ground-up essentials instead of adding random pieces. I now prioritize where to invest time and money wisely. I used to get excited about the fun, visible details, but the program emphasized the less glamorous parts—like numbers, regulations, and compliance—that give you peace of mind. Today, I have way less anxiety because I’m fully compliant and have a firm grasp on my financials.
Marketing That Actually Works
From a marketing standpoint, what strategies or guidance made the biggest impact for you?
The biggest impact came from learning the power of SEO and optimizing my website for Google. Early on, I poured most of my energy into social media, but mentorship encouraged me to make my site and booking platform seamless for clients searching online. Now, the majority of my new clients find me through Google searches—it’s been a game-changer for consistent, organic growth.
Financial Clarity Changes Everything
What started working after mentorship that wasn’t working before?
My finances became rock-solid. Before, profitability wasn’t a priority, so I had no real grasp on where I stood. After mentorship, I started working with a professional accounting company, keeping clean books, and meeting monthly with my accountant to review numbers and plan improvements. That clarity alone directed my efforts and reduced so much stress.
Confidence to Take Bigger Steps
How did mentorship help you feel more confident taking big steps—whether that was hiring, investing, launching new services, or leaving a full-time job?
It gave me the validation and guidance I needed for major moves. I took a huge leap by moving out of my single-room salon suite into a larger storefront location. I’m not quite ready for a big staff yet, but I was able to reinvest smartly into the space. Often I knew what I wanted to do, but having Suzanne’s support—confirming “yes, this is the right next move”—made all the difference in pulling the trigger confidently.
The Power of Peer Support
How valuable was being surrounded by other injectors going through similar growth phases? Did peer conversations or shared experiences influence your decisions?
It was tremendously valuable. This career can feel isolating and competitive, especially in your own town. Being in a group with other ambitious injectors gave me genuine connections and a safe space to learn from peers’ situations. Those conversations normalized challenges and inspired action—I’m so grateful for the relationships I built.
Looking Back: The Real Impact of Mentorship
Looking back, what changes can you directly attribute to being in the Mentorship Program?
Investing in the mentorship program was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It helped me build a strong foundation, forced me to do the necessary (and sometimes uncomfortable) work, and gave me clarity, reduced overwhelm, and far more strategic choices—especially around efficiency, finances, and scaling sustainably.
For Anyone Trying to Do It Alone
What would you say to someone trying to grow their aesthetics business without mentorship?
You’re doing it the hard way. There’s a paved path and experienced leaders ready to guide you—you don’t have to figure it out alone. Following someone who’s already perfected the formula is one of the smartest, fastest moves you can make for your business.
